Tara Fowler

Principal & Dance Teacher

Tara started dancing at the age of 3 and went on to study various styles of dance including Ballet, Tap, Modern and Street.

Throughout her childhood, she successfully completed all her gradings through various syllabuses including RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers Dancing) and BBO (British Ballet Organisation). Tara also extended this through school completing Dance as a GCSE and A-Level.

Through Tara’s years of training she won numerous dance and performing art scholarships and awards. This allowed Tara to gain in-depth and wide-ranging knowledge and training from various industry professionals such as teachers from the Royal Ballet School and performers from West End musicals.  As a young performer Tara took part in 8 pantomimes and was a regular at various dance festivals across the Country. Tara took part in the Young Performers showcase at Her Majesty’s theatre at the age of 13 and was scouted for many auditions in the dance industry.

At 17 Tara started assisting dance classes and it was then that she realised this was the path for her. Being able to teach children, demonstrating her already extensive knowledge and seeing the joy on children’s faces made Tara sure that this was the right career choice. Tara went through the British Ballet Organisation to start her training for a career as a Dance Teacher.

Through her many years of Teaching, Tara, has choreographed various award winning pieces of choreography for students, choreographed dances for corporate events in Birmingham, choreographed dances for weddings and helped organise fashion shows and dance shows . Tara has helped a lot of students with their GSCE / A level dance choreography ahead of exams and also taught basic ballet technique in secondary schools to help with students GCSE/A-level dance.

After 10 years of teaching for different Dance Schools, Tara decided she wanted her own school. In 2016 Passion Academy of Dance was set up and Tara has never looked back.

Tara understands that in order to keep children engaged it is vital that learning is fun and enjoyable, something that Passion brings to every student. We provide a happy, safe environment allowing students to have the best possible learning experience. Tara’s passion is making her Dance School inclusive to everyone and a happy environment where the joy of dance can be expressed. Tara is always working and training to extend her knowledge to make your dance experience the best it can be.

Lucia Steele (Chi)

Dance Teacher

Having not started professional training until later on in life, Lucia Steele amazingly taught herself most of the skills she carries with her today.

Lucia started getting professional training in her later years at school where she went on to study Performing Arts and Dance National Awards through college. During this time Lucia was training with some of the top UK breakdancers.

Since finishing education Lucia went on to be signed by Riven Agency working alongside Pixie Lott and was also offered work from Warner Brothers. Lucia was a part of the Duo LS dancers where she performed at major events around the UK such as London Lion Basketball Games.

Lucia also has an extensive teaching career having taught at various Dance Schools and Gyms in Gloucestershire and Swindon.

Lucia joined Passion Academy of Dance in January 2018 and by teaching Commercial and Breakdancing it is clear to see that Lucia brings something very different to the school. With her bubbly, crazy personality, all the students love Lucia and she is an asset to have on the team.

P.S – A little fun fact: Tara was one of Lucia’s many teachers through her training journey.

Rikki Mellis

Dance Teacher

Rikki has been dancing since the age of three, where she first pursued Irish Dance. After competing for years, Rikki decided it was time to broaden her knowledge of the dance world by taking classes in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and street dance (this is where she first met Tara!).

In her final years of senior school, Rikki undertook music as an optional GCSE. This, combined with her existing dance knowledge, lead her to training in Musical Theatre at Gloucestershire College, where she starred in musicals such as; The Wizard of Oz, The Wedding Singer and Sweet Charity. Rikki finished her time at college by obtaining top grades of triple Distinction* in her Btec Diploma.

Upon getting the necessary grades at college, Rikki then went on to study Performing Arts at university where she achieved a First Class with honours degree in Performing Arts at the University of Gloucestershire. While studying at University, Rikki was also the head choreographer of the University’s competitive dance team.

Alongside this big achievement, while studying for her degree, Rikki performed in multiple professional musical shows at The Playhouse Theatre in her hometown of Cheltenham including The Snow

Queen(2016) & Pinocchio and the Christmas Wish(2017). Rikki also starred as ‘Judas’ in Godspell, also performed at The Playhouse Theatre.

Throughout her time at the dance school Rikki attends, she has been cast as Mrs Darling in their production of Peter Pan and Miss Honey in their production of Matilda.

Rikki has also performed in various events such as dancing on the ‘main stage’ at London Pride 2019, dancing at a corporate event with Tara (2018), being part of an organised flash mob for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and even attended a Charity fundraiser as Snow White in 2018.

This will be Rikki’s second dance-based teaching job since graduating from University, having gone back to her college in 2019 to teach the HND students the foundations of tap dance along with a group routine for their end of year show. Rikki is very excited to be joining Passion Academy of Dance, alongside one of her very first teachers and an old competition team teammate.
